John Rylands Library

The John Rylands Library is a magnificent Victorian Gothic building in Manchester.

It is one of the most beautiful libraries in the world and it looks more like a castle or a cathedral than like a library.

The library was opened in 1990 and it has many manuscripts from many centuries ago including the oldest known piece of the New Testament - the St John Fragment.

The library was founded by Enriqueta Rylands in memory of her husband, John Rylands.

The John Rylands Library maintained its design and purpose, and it is still working today as an academic library.

Having the honour of visiting the John Rylands Library was an amazing experience, knowing that a place like that we will never see built again.
